Greetings
For all the delegates and alternates that where unable to attend the meeting, we had a meet and greet type setup. We where trying to place names with faces, since we didn't get a lot of time to do that at the county convention. We had a great turnout and we will try to do one or two more before Austin. We did discuss a few things, and below is what we discussed.
Meeting Minutes
April 25, 2008
6:00p.m.
1. One delegate pitched an idea to carpool, since it would make it more economical for everyone to travel together since we are all going to the same place, and gas prices around that time will be around $3.80 per gallon! (Yikes)
--If you want to carpool, can you please send me your Name and Phone number, and how many individuals can fit in your vehicle.
-- Or if you have a rather larger vehicle, and you rather someone drive your vehicle for you, you can send me your information also.
2. Also, we mentioned if you want to be a National Delegate you should download your application and send it in by the May deadline. You can download the application from www.txdemocrats.org.
3. A lot of you ran into booking problems, because all of the rooms where gone within 24hrs after they sent out the form in the mail. I have checked and found there are still quite a lot of rooms left, but they are located more North of I35. There are still some very nice rooms there, and this would be your best bet of getting a room for the convention.
4. For the 2008 State Democratic Convention in District 1 there is a total of 219 Delegates, District 2 has a total of 230 Delegates, and District 3 has a total of 220 Delegates. Smith County has delegates in every one of those districts.
5. If you are a State Delegate, and you are unable to attend for any reason Please get with me A.S.A.P. I will have to find an alternate to replace you. The more advance notice you give me the better. :)
District 1 -- Smith County (24 Delegates)
District 2 -- Smith County (14 Delegates)
District 3 -- Smith Country (8 Delegates)
If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me or give me a call at 903.952.8717, and if you have texting capabilities I can receive your message more quickly.
Thanks,
Will Edmond
